SUB-PROJECT NO. 45 PRINCIPAL RESEARCHER AMD LOCATION Dr. Charles Geschickter OBJECTIVE AMD OXTAILS OF WORK : This project involved the search for, and preliminary testing of, materials (not mentioned) which might alter consciousness and have other physiologic effects (alteration of blood pressure, cardiovascular responses, body temperature or anti-cancer properties). The purpose was to identify and evaluate substances which might have application in the psycho- chemical and "K" (knockout drops) fields. No comments indicating the results of the project were found. _ APPROXIMATE TIME SPAN : 1955 - 1953 SIGNIFICANT ASPECTS: Body fluid of seriously ill medical patients were screened for toxic substances and animal experiments on the ef- fect of these toxic substances were conducted. After pharmacology cal and toxicity studies in animals, those active substances which were determined to be within a suitable toxicity range were to have been tested on appropriate patients after initial testing had been done on advance cancer patients. No further information regarding this suggested human experimentation was found. As this project progressed, it evolved into a study of stress which may have had medical benefits for patients.
