Research Plans for 1960-61.
As indicated in the accompanying progress reports and papers
related to the research-supported by the grant, several crystalline
substance have been isolated from Amanita Muscaria and Rivea Corymbosa.
Future work will be organized to accomplish the LOllowing od, odjectives:
1. Ascertain, by means of biological testing, which, if any, of
the crystalline materials exhibit significant physiological
effects in test animals. (This work 13 being carried out 2) C
ja the lle of Dr at thi 2S
2. Complete fractionation and purification of crude concentrates
which exhibit physiological effects in test animals.. When
pure crystalline substances are isolated they will be identi-
fied or structural elucidation will be attempted.
3. For those substances, which exhibit-significant physiological
effects and which have novel structure, an attempt will be
made to synthesize them and compounds with related structure
in order that relative physiological activity can be deter-
mined.

obtain a sizable quantity of Rivea Col Corymbosa from an area i
where the plant is used for medicinal or occult purposes, then it is
proposed that the sample be carefully investigated to ascertain if it
contains indolic compounds or glycosides significantly different from
the samples collected in areas where the plant is not utilized for its
physiological action.
