Unless the Negro community, “particularly the upper and middle class group, arouses itself to a new involvement with its less fortunate, economically ex- ploited and emotionally deprived black brethen.” Powell, who is pastor of the Abyssinian Beptist church in New York, referred to the fact that Maicolm X., the No. 2 leader of the Black Muslims, is transferring his activ- ities to Washington.
