ACTIVITIES IN MOSCOW, RUSSTA
Nenry Winston
Dimitri Shevlyagin, who is a deputy of Boris
Ponomarev, Head of the International Department of the
Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet
Union (CCCPSU) remarked at a conference of International
Department officiais held in early July, 1961, in Moscow,
Russia, that the Soviets admire Henry W
nston very much,
gin said the Soviets are very fond of Winston and

have Tavited him and his family to Russia as guests of
the CCCPSU where he will receive ali medical attention
available, If Winston were to die, Sheviyagin stated,
the Soviets would accept Winston's children and raise
them in the proper manner, The children would be re~-
turned to the United Statea any time the Communist
Party, USA, (CPUSA) desired,
. Henry Winston, a functionary of
the CPUSA, received a commutation of sentence
from President John F, Kennedy and was released
from Federal custody on June 30, 1961. Winston
had been serving a combined sentence of eight
years for violation of the Smith Act of 1940
and contempt of court,
World Youth Forum
Vasily Shevchenko, a leader of the Komsomnal,
a youth organization of the C
Soviet Union,
$ currentiy in Hoscow, Kuasia, @ meeting of the
Worid Youth Forum is scheduled to be held in Moscow on
recentiy advised
July 25, 1961. Shevchenko, who is the Organizer of the
World Youth Forum, said that 700 people are expected to

from the United States were scheduled to attend the World ~
Youth Forum and, according to Shevchenko, some of these
