SUMMARY
1. Rev. Philip BERRiGAN, one of the "Catonsville 9," convicted for destroying
Selective Service records at Catonsville, Maryland in May 1968, addressed an
audience of approximateiy 150 students at Andrews Outdoor Theatre, University of
Hawaii at l2:30 p.m., 25 March 1970. His visit to Hawaii was sponsored by the
Symposia Committee of the Associated Students, University of Hawaii (Asuh), the
Service" at the Church of the Crossroads on the evening of 24 March, at Spalding
Hall. on the University of Hawaii campus at 9:30 a.m., 25 March, and at the
Off-Center Coffeehouse, center of University radical activity, at 2:00 p.m.,.
25 March. As anticipated, he condeaned the Selective Service System and denounced
U.S. participation in the war in Vietnam. In addition, he likened the destruction
World War II, called upon his audience to. "dissent, rebel, revolutionize" and
"recapture power," and implied that any action dedicated to the exposure,
elimination and destruction of the current systen would be justified.

Associated Students, University of Hawaii (Asuh), the University's student
government body, that the Rev. Phiiip BERRiGAN, SsJ, had accepted an invitation
to speak at Andrews Outdoor Theatre on the University campus at 12:30 p.m.,
25 Maxch l970. The Symposia Committee further announced that he would Iead two
seminars on that day - one at 9:30 a.m. in Spalding Hall entitled 'The Non-Violent
Revolutionary Struggle," and the other at 2:00 p.m. at the Off-Centex Coffeehouse
1abled "Prison:. A Punishment for.Peace." BERRiGAN, one of the I'Catonsville 9,"
was convicted for burning Selective Service files at Catonsvilie, Maryland in
May 1968. He has served seyen months of the six-year pxison sentence meted out
