This official statement of the Yearly Meeting grew out of a day of
—~-exciting discussion and search, and a real anguish about Vietnam.
Friends were concerned about reconciliation and aid to suffering people,
-. but also about the peace-keeping role of the United Nations.

We declare our faith in those abiding truths taught and exemplified by Jesus
Cnrist -- tnat every individual of every race and nation is of supreme worth,
*hat love is the highest law of life, and that violence is to be overcome by positive
zood will. -This faith has led Friends from the beginning to oppose all war. As a
-2sult Friends have often refused to fight in war, to pay war taxes or to participate
in the economy of war. We have supported world organizations to end war, simultaneously
‘tempting to aid all victims of war, a3 an expression of universal human brotherhood.
